What is an Occupational Certificate?
A nationally-recognised, work-focused qualification that sits between a short course and a full degree. A degree is longer and more theoretical (3–4 years); a higher certificate is quick but limited. An OC with Zaio is the middle path: QCTO-accredited, ~1.5 years, built around real workplace modules and projects for direct entry into a job.
Do I need coding experience to apply?
No. Our Occupational Certificates are designed for beginners. The only entry requirement is an NQF Level 4 qualification (a Matric certificate or equivalent), and we take you from the fundamentals to job-ready.
Is the qualification accredited?
Yes. Zaio Institute of Technology is accredited and quality-assured by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), Accreditation No. 07-QCTO/SDP220925101328. Each certificate is a nationally-recognised NQF Level 5 qualification.
How long does it take?
About 1.5 years. That combines knowledge modules, practical skills and formal workplace experience, ending in an external assessment through the QCTO. Much faster than a 3–4 year degree.
How do I learn: online or in person?
Online and live. You learn from anywhere in South Africa with live sessions and support, while completing practical and workplace modules built into the qualification.
Are there funded or payment options?
Yes. Funded options are available and we offer flexible payment plans. Speak to an advisor when you apply and we'll help you find the right option for your situation.
