Questions

Questions people ask.

  • Which is better, a bootcamp or a degree?

Neither is better in general. A degree is a three-to-four-year NQF Level 7 qualification; a bootcamp is a six-to-seven-month job-skills programme. For skills-hired tech roles a bootcamp or an Occupational Certificate is faster and cheaper; for careers that require a degree, only a degree will do.

  • Is an Occupational Certificate better than a diploma?

They are different. A diploma is NQF Level 6 and field-based; an Occupational Certificate is NQF Level 4 or 5, occupation-based, and includes workplace modules and a national exam. Choose by the job and the level you need.

  • Which six-month IT course is best?

Zaio's six-month programme is the Fullstack Web Development bootcamp; the seven-month options are AI engineering, cloud and DevOps, data science and cybersecurity.

  • Are short courses worth it?

Worth it when the course teaches a skill employers hire for, ends with proof (a portfolio or a certification exam), and you finish it. Worth less when it is a certificate of attendance for a topic nobody hires on.

  • Can I do a bootcamp first and the certificate later?

Yes. Several students start with a bootcamp and continue into the Occupational Certificate in the same field; an advisor can map the route.

  • How do I compare fees fairly?

Compare the total cost: tuition, the EISA exam fee for certificates, any vendor exam fees, and financing costs if you pay monthly. Zaio gives you every figure in writing before you enrol.
